Catholic Woman’s Almanac

Moments of Gratitude
::running water
::my brother in law coming over to help Chris dig up our water line to find the break
::hanging out at my sisters for the day while our water line was repaired
::a yummy meal with our visiting priest who is leaving for his new assignment
::*a spectacular give away from Ruth at Loretto Rosaries!*

Beauty in the Ordinary
Saturday we did a thorough house clean, top of the book case clean, in anticipation for our small dinner party {which got moved to my sisters when we woke up realized we had no water.} I love a thoroughly clean, inside the cabinets clean, house clean.

From the Kitchen
Well, tomorrow I will be doing all the dishes that could not be washed today — no water remember.

Praying
I am praying for God’s guidance and help with time management as I undertake a Bible project. {details soon hopefully}

Meditating
Right now I’m just meditating on the various scriptures I’m coming across. The Word of God is so powerful!

Pondering

“Form your character that it may be stable. Refine it so that it may be gentle. Conquer it so that it may be usable. You will then be like to Mary, exultant with joy and glorifying God in your everyday life.”

Reading
The kids and I are almost finished with this one:
My Ideal – Jesus Son Of Mary

This may be our next morning read:
Jesus Our Eucharistic Love: Eucharistic Life According to the Saints

My Bible:
Catholic Bible-RSV

Memorizing
The Magnificat. I pretty much have the first part down.

Pinned
The Power of Words

neat kid’s morning routine cards

looks easy enough {famous last words}

Mmmm — I want to try these egg muffins

Looking Ahead
I am absolutely enjoying my summer of no outside commitments.

Ruth at Loretto Rosaries is giving away a pair of Our Lady of Mt Carmel earrings!  Link up your Catholic Woman’s Almanac or share it in the comments to be entered.  I will draw a winner on Friday and announce it on our Moments of Grace post.

Welcome! I’m Jenny, the administrator of Suscipio, a home for the Catholic woman on the web. I have been married to Chris almost 20 years, strictly by the grace of God and we have seven precious souls, one brand spankin’ new. I have blogged for years over at A Minute Captured, but recently felt God leading me to start a communal website for Catholic women. I hope my blogging shows what my life really looks like, no puttin’ on airs around here. It’s messy and beautiful and blessed beyond measure.

  1. Not much time for a blog post this week, but would love to win anything Ruth makes!
    ~ from the kitchen – I have discovered we have lots of leftovers – time to clean out the fridge and use up or freeze food. Although we are having homemade onion rings tonight :)
    ~ from the learning room – prepping plans for 1st grade, not sure when we will start back to school – maybe mid August
    ~ memorizing – see above, it’s summer break – no memorizing happening around here right now
    ~ reading – lots of info about VA’s (virtual assistant), and SEO for websites – kinda nerdy huh?
    ~Praying – for our Prists, Parish, and family

  2. Oh My Gosh! Leo has the brightest smile!!

  3. “Famous last words” – Ha! So funny, so true!

    And your baby! What can I say? So adorable! What a day-brightener.

    Thank you for sharing, dear Jenny.

  4. Glad you have water! I really like the quote about Mary. The happy cheeks on that babe would make anyone smile! :)

    • His smile is infectious!

  5. (Silly comment form!)
    Love this, and love the pic of Leo! Adorable little cheeks!

    • We smooch those chubby cheeks all day long!

      • I don’t think I’d be able to stop.
