Moments of Grace

My Moments of Grace come in sporadic bursts…meaning I have to remind myself right now to stop and look. I am nearing the end of this pregnancy and it is going out with a bang.

It is not always easy to feel gratitude in pain, or appreciation in anxiety, or praise in powerlessness. And yet a common theme here at Suscipio in the book and now the Lenten reading has been, the simple is not always the easy…but it is still simple.

And so I simply look for the grace in the moment.

::making enough dinner for leftovers the next night

::a chipped “Being a Mother is a Holy Privilege” hot chocolate mug, {because I am chipped, somedays just down right fractured…and it’s all still a privilege}

::hearing my family pray the rosary at night {while I pray along from my bed}

::my “baby” who is about to become a big brother, curled around me and the baby belly in the rocking chair

::farm fresh eggs on the way to soccer practice {until we get our own chickens again}

Take a moment to look back on your week and recall the glimpses of grace as they wove themselves into the flurry of your life. These glimpses can be as simple as a gratitude list or as detailed as an animated story over a cup of coffee while children play.

If you blog, share a blog post containing your gratitude list, grace story, or picture from the week. You could even choose one from your archives showing the movements of God’s grace in your life. Link up here on Fridays for “Moments of Grace.” If you don’t blog, share your grace moments in the comments of Friday’s post.

Blog or no blog, let’s visit each other and listen to our grace stories, the mysterious and unique ways in which God moves and works and lives in each one of us.

  1. God bless and keep you, Jenny.
    May the coming birth of your precious child be one of sheer joy and ease!
    Thank you for this wonderful link-up.
    Blessings to all..
    Trish

  2. My moments of grace this week began with the winds of change. They say the winds of change can collapse tall buildings, but only sway the trees. My dear son left for basic training with the army on Monday. So my nest is really empty now, though these last years with him graced my husband and I with the task of parenting an adult child. He is still trying to find his ‘place’ in the world even after earning a college degree. It is hard to see him struggle when you see so much talent and potential! Letting go – all is grace!
    And other moments of grace. . .

    ~pizza for lunch at a favorite restaurant

    ~warm apple crisp
    ~resting on the couch
    Blessings to all of you this weekend!

    • Rebecca: I’ll remember your son in my prayers. My own son is 16 days away from his final discharge from the Marines after almost 5 full years of service, including 7 months in Afghanistan just last year. So I understand full well what is in your heart today. God bless!

  3. Hearing my toddler say “I love you” to his Grandpa for the first time, without being prompted.

    Reading in front of the fireplace with my babies while it rains outside.

    A nice, clean fridge (lol) :)

  4. So nice to see all the grace that surrounds.

    Many blessing to you as you make final preperations for your newest baby to join your family on this side of our journey.

  5. I would hate to think where I would be without the Sacrament of Confession, especially right now when it seems like charity is harder to come by.

  6. Love your list and your pics!

    Having a hard time myself after a very bad week of call at work – o -

    Yet…the gifts are there if I stop focusing on myself and just look…

    …dusting old furniture

    …father and daughter asleep together…heads touching in rhythmic breathing

    …long talk with spiritual director that renewed and encouraged me

    …gentle, silent snow falling peacefully

    …reading and praying with Isaiah during Lent

    …husband making flatbread for a meeting at my house

    …first job for oldest daughter

    …forgiveness received in the sacrament of Reconciliation

    Have a blessed weekend everyone…filled with His Presence and His many gifts.
