They came on a Sunday afternoon, even though they have their own families to spend time with, their own homes to enjoy, their own day of relaxation. They came even though this is my 7th baby.
They came in casual dress, which was required by the invitation, pajamas were encouraged and a few showed up in pajamas to keep me company in mine. They came to eat croissant sandwiches and grapes, coleslaw and chips and drink homemade cherry limeades.
They came to talk labor and delivery, babies and friendship, homeschooling, private schools and public schools. They came and talked books, movies, music, children, husbands, jobs and the fact that life is just hard sometimes. They came to hang out with me and my girls before this baby is born.
Physical gifts were not allowed. The only gift I wanted was their presence in my home on a Sunday afternoon. These moments seem so ordinary, but each time we say “yes” to another, they become extraordinary.

My “Moment of Grace” this week was when my granddaughter told me that I have “crumples” around my eyes. It is official now that I am ‘old’! lol
“Crumples” sound lovely don’t they!
Wish I could have come to…sounds so grace-filled. God bless you, Jenny.
Theresa, I hope you are feeling better.
Yes…it would of been lovely for us to all be there.
Thanks Allison…it was just a 24 hour thing…thank God.
I would love for you all to come for a visit, in pajamas of course!
My moment of grace this week was just that amazing overwhelming feeling of love that I got when my 5 month old was staring into my eyes, reached up, and caressed my face with a big smile on his face. The feeling of love between us was amazing.
That is awesome, Maria!
Oh how beautiful…
One day sticks out in my mind…I was up all last Saturday with either a reaction to something I ate or a stomach virus. Didn’t sleep a wink. I had a Carmelite meeting on Sunday. I was debating whether I had the strength to go. Since I am President, it is hard to pull together a meeting and let someone lead last minute. I decided I needed to go and I prayed for the grace for each moment…Mass said for a young member that passed away and greeting her family, fellowship, business meeting, ongoing formation, then a meeting with out Treasurer. In my utter physical exhaustion, God not only gave me the grace to respond to each moment, but to smile, be kind and actually truly enjoy my day. It was a Spirit-filled meeting by the very grace of God! To Him be the glory!
Yes Theresa, to Him be all the glory! He is so kind and merciful. I always remind myself of how well He takes of me in the little things so I can work on trusting Him in the big things.
