Here is the video announcing the first book we will read and yes, I am sitting on my bedroom floor because:
1. it was the quietest place in the house
2. the window ledge was the right height to hold the camera
3. I did not want children to come running and ask what I was doing when they heard me talking to “myself”
4. it really was the quietest place in the house
{Here is the article I referenced in the vlog. I meant to say the Top Mom Blogs for 2011.}
So the first book we will be sharing is
Get your books ordered. We plan to start discussing in February. And again, thank you. Like I said in the video, I am already encouraged by your initial response. My heartfelt prayer is that Suscipio will become a restful and rejuvenating place for us to gather this year.

I’ve gotten the book, is there a particular place where the posting will be for discussion? I subscribed so I should start getting updates here.
I think this is a very good choice of book!
Ann
Should we start reading the book or will there be specific posts regarding what chapters we will be focusing on starting February? (ooops…that’s tomorrow already!!)
Good question Theresa. I thought we would just go over the introduction this week since some do not have their books yet. Wednesdays will be Book Club posts days, so look for one tomorrow.
I KNOW, can’t believe it!
Have the book! Squee!
I bought the book last night & read some of it during my holy hour. WOW! I had to refrain from underlining every word.
** It’s that good! **
Can’t wait for the discussions!
I was not kidding when I said I lit it up with pink highlighter!
I’m excited about participating in this book club and reading this already uplifting blog. Ended up here via Elizabeth Foss, and have shared this site with my Catholic women’s group at my parish, hoping that they will also find the posts here to be inspiring and comforting. Thanks for all the hard work!
Welcome Elizabeth! Thank for spreading the word about Suscipio. I’m pleased you are enjoying your time here.
I’ve tried with a friend on several occasions to get a group of women together to read some good book on our spiritual lives and to encourage each other. Sadly, everyone is so busy in such diverse ways that every effort has fallen flat. I think I will join in here and see if perhaps the fellowship online will be a good substitute for me. Now to go get this book for my kindle….
Ann, that is exactly why I decided to have a book club as a part of this website, it is hard for me to get together with other women due to scheduling conflicts. This will be a place to discuss as you are, when you can. I’m am so pleased you are joining us!
I am in love with this site already! As a mom of a toddler and a baby, I am so happy to find a site dedicated to uplifting us women! Heaven knows I need uplifting every single day right now!
I have ordered the book today and am really looking forward to this book club! Thank you so so much.
Hi Maria, glad you are going to be reading and discussing the book with us. Heaven does know we need this mutual encouragement.
I’ve been contemplating this for a couple of days now and am jumping in. What a great way to prepare for Lent! I so need it! Thanks, Jenny!
Welcome Heather! Yes, Lent, right around the corner and this book, I think will be good preparation.
Jenny, God bless you for this unique undertaking while you are pregnant and have 6 other kids to watch over. I hope you feel better and won’t be troubled too much with the diabetes.
It’s interesting…lately I’ve been thinking about how valuable the Catholic women bloggers whose sites I visit are to my spiritual well-being. We can draw inspiration from one another and see how others cope with things we might be experiencing. It’s exciting to have a site like this so that no matter where we are in the world, we are connected.
God bless you and everyone else participating in this endeavor.
Barb~I was thinking the same thing…how much encouragement and support I receive through blogging and I actually refer to these women as my *friends*!
Ditto!!
Thank you Barb for such kind and encouraging words.
I am also looking forward to reading along with you and I am going to pass this wonderful site onto my friends. We have a pondering group. We meet on Wednesdays and read the coming Sundays readings and discuss how God is speaking to us and working in our lives. Thank you…..this will be really great!
Hi Kathleen, thank you for spreading the word about Suscipio.
I arrived at this website via Elizabeth Foss. Just ordered the book – and will be interested in reading it with a group of faithful women. Can’t wait to hear the discussions…
Welcome Loretta! I am so excited to share this great book with all of you! I am looking forward to discussing the book too. I have never led a book discussion, that shows how much I love this book. I was willing to start a book club just so I could discuss it with you all!
Will be ordering on Friday–payday!
Welcome Emily! I’m glad you will be participating in our discussion.
Ordered! Can’t wait.
I ordered the book today. Looking forward so much to this!
I am excited to share this wonderful book with you all.
Thank you! I look forward to reading this and participating in the study.
Welcome Kathleen! So glad you will be joining us.
I think this is a great idea. I have read “Searching for and Maintaining Peace” and “Interior Freedom” – both excellent. I sent the first one to my mom who loved it. I am looking forward to doing this book study and reading the guest posts on this blog.
~Rebecca
So glad you’ll be joining in the discussion Rebecca. Of his books I also really liked Time for God. My spiritual father just finished reading In the School of the Holy Spirit.
I’m really looking forward to reading this book with you ladies. I feel so blessed to have found you. I read Searching for & Maintaining Peace a couple years ago. I will enjoy being able to read & discuss it with you all.
Hi Julie. I am really looking forward to our book discussion too. I love the enthusiasm already expressed!
I am so glad you are starting this up.. I think it will be a great place to visit and read the word and to get inspiration. Thank you for answering the call.
God Bless.
Marcie
Hi Marcie. I appreciate your words of gratitude, but, this is not just my place. I may have started it up, but this OUR place. I’m glad you’re here.
Jenny,
I have never read anything by Fr, Jacques Phillipe. I am looking forward to joining the book club discussion next month. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and inviting me to visit here.
God bless.
Karin, glad you followed me back over here. I think you will really enjoy this book. It’s where the quote on the home page is taken from, “God’s first gift to us is the gift of life and this gift is already a vocation.”
Thank You Jenny for all that you are doing! I hope to join you in February for the book club
Stephanie, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this book! Thanks for joining us.
I’m so excited about this and thankful for the chance to participate! I’ve been wanting this book since you referenced it in your posts about reading Scripture. I’m new to Catholicism and am in the process of conversion so an opportunity to learn from and fellowship with Catholic women is super exciting for me!
Welcome Ashley. I am so happy to see you here. The book is wonderful and I pray this site will be encouraging. Thanks for joining us.
This looks like a wonderful book Jenny! I am very exctied to order it!
Thank you for starting this site!
Tina
I think you will really like the book, at least I hope you do. It is one I keep off the shelves for a quick flip through.
Thank you Tina for encouraging this site!
Jenny, Thanks for making this site available. I look forward to reading this and participating in the book club. You’re right time is tight but to fellowship with other Catholic women would be a real blessing.
I found your site from Theresa…and you’re welcome to visit mine anytime.
Blessings and +
Caroline~it is such a blessing to *see* you here. You will be a wonderful addition to this group and I hope you will share some of your favorite past {or present} posts as well as your reflections on scripture and books.
Spirit inspired!! This is the only book I do not have by Jacques Phillipe. He is simple yet profound and I savor his books. I just put it on my Kindle : ) I look forward to discussing with and meeting others through this wonderful reading together. It was great to see and hear you Jenny…thank you for beginning this…
The first book I read of his was “Searching for and Maintaining Peace.” I finished off 2011 by reading the rest of his books and this one is definitely one of my favorites. I’m so happy you’re excited to discuss this book together!
Yes…that was my first one too. I don’t know if I have a favorite but I have the most highlighting in *Interior Freedom*
